Ecoffey, Carlow top finishers

DEADWOOD – As teams continue to build some momentum towards the State A cross country meet at Hart Ranch on October 24, Red Cloud rolls into Deadwood last Tuesday with sophomore Jade Ecoffey taking first in the 5,000-meter run with a 21:34.22 and seventh grader Ashlan Carlow, running in only her second varsity race, finishing runner-up in 22:03.75.

A third Red Cloud runner, Cheree Ferguson, came in seventh, with Victoria Good Buffalo in 15th, Esperanza Rama was 20th and Jewelia LeBeau was 24th. Elizabeth Iron Horn of Little Wound was 26th. Little Wound had several runners participate in the 5,000-meter JV race including 7) Lara Herman, 9) Shawnee White, 11) Sheenah White and 12) Stephanie Janis.

In the boys’ varsity 5,000-meter race, Little Wound runners finished 15) Richard Patton III in 21:40.14, 17) Kobe Gay, 24) Dale Pourier and 26) Jake Janis. Bennett County finishers included

20) Brendan Poor Bear, 22) Tyce Gropper, 25) Braden Louden and 27) Demetrius Whirlwind Horse. Little Wound’s Isaiah Red Owl was 30th in the boys 5,000-meter JV race while Bennett County finishers included 6) Wyatt Huber, 15) Gavin Risse and 17) Ethan Banks.

Red Cloud girls will run in the Black Hills Conference meet on Thursday, October 8 hosted by Hot Springs then the Region 5A meet in Deadwood on Thursday, October 15.
