This is an interview with Jay Jacobs. He teaches a class about business and helping students apply for jobs and get them ready for the future and what is going to come up soon when they are out of high school. Like apply for jobs and have the students prepared when applying for a job in the years after high school or a summer job.
Mykala White Dress: How long have you been working here? What do you work as?
Jay Jacob: I have been working here for 4 years, and 1st year as a counselor
MWD: What inspired you to do what you are doing?
JJ: I worked at Flandreau Indian School when I was going through my undergrad and helped students that went to school there. They suggested that I be a counselor
MWD: Have you ever thought about a different career? Is so what?
JJ: Yes, business or something in athletes.
MWD: How many years of college did you need to go through?
JJ: 4 year degree but it took me 7, with a masters degree so total was 10 years of schooling.
MWD: What is the best part about your job?
JJ: The students, and help them get through school.
MWD: What is the worst part about your job?
JJ: Adults, was the worst part of the job.
MWD: Did you want this career as a kid? explain why?
JJ: No, just never thought about it.
MWD: What where your childhood dreams?
JJ: My childhood dream was to play in the NBA.
MWD: What was your major when you were in college?
JJ: Athletic training, then business admin, then psychology
MWD: Are you happy so far with you have achieved?
JJ: Very Proud! Statistics say that I should have never graduated high school
