OLC Courses Go Online

KYLE, S.D. – Due to the Coronavirus outbreak in South Dakota, Oglala Lakota College President Thomas Shortbull announced that there will no longer be face-to-face classes with a faculty member for the remainder of the Spring Semester. Instead, OLC will deliver almost all of its courses through online delivery modes such as Zoom classrooms and the internet. The only exception is that there will be face-to-face classes for On- Site Construction and Automotive classes.

The online delivery of courses will begin on March 23, 2020.

For the 9 college centers on the Pine Ridge Reservation, Rapid City College Center and the Cheyenne River College Center, only OLC students will have access to the buildings if their only ability to access online courses is through the college Center. Community activities at the College Center will now be curtailed. OLC’s GED program will continue to work with students who are pursuing their GED at the Centers

OLC’s administrative headquarters building, Library, Bookstore will not allow anybody into the building except for its administrative staff. The College’s Historical Center will be closed indefinitely.

OLC has cancelled the Lakota Language Academy classes scheduled to be held June 1-12, 2020. All co-curricular events are also cancelled. OLC 2020 Graduation will still be held.
