Red Cloud finishes in Elite eight at NABI

LISTEN

PHOENIX – “ We made it to the Elite Eight, ended up 6-2 and except for Stevi Fallis, a Red Cloud graduate, we played with quite a few JV players, two who didn’t play last because of injuries, we’re small and undersized to every team we played,” said Amanda Carlow, Red Cloud’s coach at NABI, “we saw some really good things from this team, we lost six seniors from our team this year with two all staters, we have a lot of players who worked hard all year against that senior dominated team, it has paid off, still lots to polish but a good base to build from.”

Anjah LaMont played tough for us inside, she was huge on the boards, just a beast, Maikole Carlow has been working hard on her shooting and it’s paying off, Dottie Mesteth, another incoming freshman is learning a new system along with Pine Ridge transfer Lolo Carlow, learning how to play at a new speed while Vicki Good Buffalo is recuperating from ACL surgery last year, she’s learning to get back to her game while Ashlan Carlow Blount will just be a freshman, she’s young and will make freshman mistakes but plays older than she is. We also had Jewelia LeBeau, Jade Ecoffey, Essence Tobacco and Rhionna Brewer.

We earned a trip to the State tournament in 2020 but it was cancelled, added Carlow, the season was cancelled in 2021 due to Covid but this past year, the girls made it to State again, took fifth after losing to the #1 seed in the first round, it’s exciting to think where this team will go this year, they’ll work hard and who knows what their limit will be.
